Today I draw the circuit for the microphone. I’m going to connect an electret microphone to the Arduino. It is a simple preamplifier circuit:

It is a classic amplifier with a transistor. The only interesting thing here is the diode at the output. Arduino does not like negative voltage at the analog input, so I cut the negative part of the signal. Since we are just interested in the amplitude of the signal (volume), it does not cause any problem.

name is Istvan Beszteri. I'm a Doctor of Computer Science. I received my D.Sc. degree in 2006. While I'm very proud of this achievement others might think I'm an idiot spending so much time for something that is not really rewarding. Here is a good example: One of my best friends Jolly told me once when we were talking about postgraduate students: "They are all idiots. Just look at yourself!". Well, Jolly is a smart guy he is probably right :) But who cares?
