Camera Trigger

In this post I will design the camera trigger circuit. It is basically the same as the circuit of the dripping device:

Camera Trigger

I use the same optocoupler circuit. I have an old Canon D60. It has a proprietary N3 connector for external shutter release. It has three pins. One is the ground, another one is the focus and the third is the shutter. You can find the layout and more detailed info on Camera Hacker. It works as a normal switch. Just short the focus to the ground. It is like pressing the trigger half way. If you short additionally the shutter pin, too it is like pressing the trigger button fully. The only problem with this connector is that I could not find it in local shops. Finally I ordered a manual trigger for my camera from eBay. It has a cord with the connector and a switch which works as I wrote above. I remove the switch and connect the circuit instead.
